Beginning with the Inauguration in Washington, 2009 has started out with a bang! Yes we braved the cold and crowds and took part in history. After a frigid New Years in Paris, the Mall seemed like a summer vacation. Next came the Trumpet Awards in Atlanta, GA (www.trumpetawards.com) with the receiveving
of one the Promenade of Distinction Awards for his work with AMISTAD. The event was quite an affair with Raven Simone, Chris Tucker, Dick Gregory and Lisa Lesley in attendance and Harry Anderson as M.C.
The Massachusetts Maritime Academy has honored Captain William Pinkney at its June graduation with
an Honorary Doctorate in Public Service degree. This is the third honor of this type received by the Captain.Tthe others were from Becker College in Massachusetts and Southern Connecticut State University.
